"But when the kindness and love
of God our Savior was revealed,
He saved us. It was not because of any good deeds that we ourselves had done, but because of His own mercy that He saved us, through the Holy Spirit, who gives us new birth and new life by washing us.
God poured out the Holy Spirit abundantly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior- "
Titus 3:4-6 provides further insight into the Nature of God. From the structuring of these three verses, it is easily determined that three separate entities (persons) are mentioned. From Bible study we know that:
The Holy Spirit is God - (See Hebrews 3:7-11 & Acts 5:3-4.)
Jesus is God - (See Jesus is God study.)
The Father is God - (See verses such as John 8:58 & 10:36)
Therefore, especially in verse 3:6, we find three entities (persons) identified in such a way as the verse would be gibberish if there was no distinction between the three. God poured out God on us through God, would be the end result, if there were no distinction between the three.
Titus 3:4-6, also disproves the contention that Father, Son, Holy Spirit are merely titles or offices of God. It shows us specific actions being accomplished by each of the three persons (entities) named. If there were no distinction between these three the verse would again be gibberish - God poured out God, as the Holy Spirit, on us through God, as the Son, Jesus Christ.
Titus 3:4-6, along with many other verses of Scripture, some of which are detailed in this Trinity study group, clearly show a multiplicity of persons (entities) in the godhead. These verses all support the belief in the Doctrine of the Trinity of God.
