"-according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. May grace and peace be multiplied to you."
In 1 Peter 1:2, the Apostle Peter writes in such a manner that it is clear that he believes, and teaches, 'the Father, the Spirit, and Jesus Christ', are three separate and distinct persons. The verse 1Peter 1:2 lists three actions (foreknowledge, sanctification, sprinkling) accomplished by three, separate beings. If Peter believed that these were only titles or aspects of God, he would not have written the verse in this manner. 1Peter 1:2 names the Father as God. We also know from other biblical verses, that Jesus is God. (See Jesus God bible study group). This verse, and similar ones, give support for the belief in a Trinity in the Godhead.
