Definition
Strong's - to render (that is, show or regard as) just or innocent: justify.
Thayer's - to render righteous; to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous.
Webster's - In theology, to pardon and clear from guilt; to absolve or acquit from guilt and merited punishment, and to accept as righteous on account of the merits of the Savior, or by the application of Christ's atonement to the offender.
This is the Greek source word, which Bible translators render as justified. Its definition shows what the author of the original Greek manuscript was trying to convey to readers of the manuscript. Also included is the standard English meaning of the word.
