Man's spiritual depravity and corrupt nature are proclaimed by the Bible.
- - "The
LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
They have all turned aside,
They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,No, not one."
(Psalm 14:2-3)
- - "God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
Every one of them has turned aside;
They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,No, not one."
(Psalm 53:2-3)
- - As it is written:
"There is none righteous, no, not one;
There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one."
(Romans 3:10-12)
- - "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. "
(1Co 2:14)
It is clearly set forth in Holy Scripture, that 'natural man' is a corrupt being, who will not seek God, and does not have the capacity to understand spiritual matters. Clearly, something must happen to change natural man, he must be reborn as spiritual man (John 3:3) This rebirth can only happen through the action of God & the Holy Spirit. Depravity is defined by Webster as, "a state of the heart; wickedness; corruption of moral principles; destitution of holiness or good principles." This is certainly the message of the Bible in describing 'natural man.'
