Abortion

This page is a biblical commentary on the issue of abortion and the tactics of some of the anti-abortion factions. It does not support violence of any kind by either anti-, or pro-, abortion groups.

We all know what abortion is. We know that legally it is not presently considered murder. Yet, God’s children are not only bound by a legal code; but are also bound by His moral code. Today, many Christians hide behind self-serving, unsound, doctrines. They claim that the Bible doesn't cover the abortion issue and that a ‘zygote’ is not a person, or being, therefore it is not covered by God’s prohibition against murder. Many pulpits are silent on the issue; failing to give sound scriptural guidance to God’s people; intoning the contention that, "It’s a matter of conscience" instead of the fact that, "It is a matter of obedience to God."

Supporters of abortion attempt to cloud the issue of when life begins, thereby excusing themselves from the constraint against murder. God's word, the Bible, provides us with a definitive view concerning the subject:
" Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you."
(Jeremiah 1:5)
"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb."
(Psalms 139:13)
The Bible is very definite about the beginning of life. It doesn’t matter if you try to cloud the issue by using terms such as ‘fetus, zygote, embryo, etc.’

Supporters of abortion claim that the Bible doesn’t address the issue. They are wrong. The Bible clearly addresses the issue.
"And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination."
(Jeremiah 32:35)
"then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech."
(Leviticus 20:5)
"Whoever - gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death."
(Leviticus 20:2 )
‘Molech’ was a man-made god who was appeased by the sacrifice of a child. What is ‘Abortion’ other than the sacrifice of a child to the man-made gods of lust, convenience, career, financial security etc?

About the tactics of some (Christian?) anti-abortion factions
There are some, supposedly Christian, anti-abortion factions who resort to mental & physical terrorism, harassment, property destruction, violence, and even murder. I labeled them ‘supposedly Christian’ because a true Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ who never advocated the use of any of the types of actions conducted by these groups. The Bible quite clearly sets forth how a Christian is to act.
"And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will."
(2 Timothy 2:24-26)
Hmmm, kind of at odds with a lot of supposedly Christian anti-abortion groups! How can you expect to influence others to follow God's word, when you don't follow it yourselves?

Is abortion murder?
Morally, in God’s eyes,
"Yes!"

Are the violent actions of
the anti-abortionists acceptable
in God’s eyes?
"No!"

No Choice

No-one will ever see or know
Who I might have been,
Or discover my potential ~
All my talents left unseen.

No one will ever understand
That I'd like to have my say.
I'd love to have a shot at life
And try things out my way.

I'd like to stay around awhile
To find out what will be,
Past this embryonic stage,
Know what it's like being me.

But I am just a little thing,
I have no say or choice,
I'm about to be aborted ~
A child without a voice.
